Recap
Session 43 - 8.2.2026
It turns out Baba Yaga is STILL ALIVE!
- we forgot that we have to stab the unicorn horn into her heart
- she has now disappeared somewhere
The anklets on Rosemary:
- show lightning on them
- are now deactivated
Ellywick loots:
- Book: 'On Children who do not Age Properly' (has scribbles in margin, including the phrase "adhering time to the young)
- Skin on a bone frame - has arcane inscriptions, is a spell scroll - is a magical item the party has that allows us to create a clone!
Taubera finds:
- a travel wand
- a bell jar containing a taxidermy lizard
The party finds out from Taubera that she has been sent by Lady Kathryn because we have been missing for 3 years! We left in 850, and it is now 853.
Taubera has a letter from Lady Kathryn:
- "If you are reading this Taubera has found you, which is more than anyone else has done."
- "You have been grieved prematurely"
- Greeves apparently told others about us when he arrived in this realm, so they realised late on that we were not dead
- I rolled 32 insight - Taubera is telling the truth, but is guarded and careful with what she's telling us
(insert an image drawn of the map of baba yaga's cave)
Rosemary shows me her room - on the way there, we pass some herbal supplies:
- Widow roots - can be used to brew potions that cause grief
Beet, Ellywick, Taubera and Fin - try to get into Baba Yaga's room:
-
Ellywick finds and deactivates the magical trap
-
inside is more workshop than bedroom
-
the hearth has been unlit for a while
-
on back of door is a smoke smelling woollen shawl - made of goat's fur and has 2 ram horns on the hood (find out is magical)
-
is quill and inkpot on the desk, but only blank sheets of paper there - Fin and Beet try to do a rubbing to see what was written on top, but roll low and fail
-
find 2f chain with arrowhead and fletching that stiffens when picked up - turns out to be a magical item that can grapple people (1 use) - is in the bag of holding
Taubera picks the lock on the chest - sets off trap, her and Ellywick get KOd by poison gas
- Fin is outside and when it disperses comes and revives them
- They search the chest and find: Clothier book where can dress up stick figures, narrow cloth roll with needles and twine (magical items that the party took)
- Also found: grey robes that were not magical, and a black pouch full of eyes
^Eyes
Ivy helps Rosemary pack her toys into Professor Pouch (un-gagged him using the passwork Hollbrand that we set)
-
These are clearly made by Baba Yaga
-
Toys looked nice before the spell (apparently they taste like piss - we all think Professor Pouch has a piss kink because he recognised the taste instantly?)
-
Rosemary IS STILL ENCHANTED! Can't see how horrifying the hut looked
Taubera found long fingernails under Baba Yaga's bed
We teleport to Our Castle, into Beet's trophy room (with dragon head looking down on us).
- Ivy fails her wisdom check (as does the whole party?) - feels queazy and brain foggy (not sure what was unable to understand? Little worried it is to do with Baba Yaga)
- Rosemary doesn't remember anything that happened to her in the Fey Wild.
- We now know that it is winter here in Paulderburg, and that 3 years have passed.
We hear a platter drop, and it is Lady Shamrock Petulance!!
We hear a heeled approach, and meet Margaret - a heeled, stuck up woman, who has rented out our bedrooms. Apparently Cerondic the Green gave her this job, though we don't know why as he had no authority over this castle or relationship with us (Lord Highhelm gave us the castle).
- she is fudging the books and stealing money!! - 10,000g worth!
Cerondic the Green is down south during the winter, but Ellywick sent Message to him to see what the hell is going on - he was clearly on a moneymaking scheme from his reply.
Found that Ivy's garden had been disrupted by a memorial plaque for us, as we had been thought to be dead.
We kicked Margaret out, and the other people living there, and Beet accidentally (?) set the other tenants on her so that they were going to chuck her over the side of the boat they were rowing away on. Beet had to turn into an eagle to rescue her, and plopped her near Paulderburg city (but a little walk away).
Fuffle - my hireling, now in a black uniform, has been guarding the wine cellar from the tenants
- was upset the multiple attempts (from who?) to kill Margaret had failed
- Ivy sent him back to his role in the garden, to restore it
Summary
The party explored Baba Yaga's home, and found some magical items. They travelled back to Tideholm Keep with Beet's spell, and found it taken over by Margaret at the instruction of Cerondic the Green. We kicked out Margaret and reestablished ourselves in the castle.
