Session 30 - 22.6.2025

We are in Sorrowflake - vinegary muck along the coast

• Croakington Court is within Sorrowflake

Brine is in the Grotto of New Beginnings

Ellywick has is unwell and unable to help - Ivy rolls high on insight and realises that she is hungover

We need Brine's permission to get to the new realm.

We head to Brine's Grotto of New Beginnings:

• accidentally kill a crab
• totem poles - sea creature shaped with barnacles (wind chimes on top with sea glass)
• we head into the cave (Grotto of New Beginnings)
• Brine's formal titles: Wetnurse, Crone of the Grotto
• smells of rot and lavender
• Beet casts detect magic (with a nat 1 for sleight of hand - SO unsubtle)
  • The most powerful magic is currently controlling the weather

Brine has a Tiki Bar, with drinks:

• Bitter Ex Wife - neatly preserved, scream when drink (Ivy found out by drinking)
• Regrettini - remember a bad kiss
• The Dirty Daughter - your mother will feel this!
• Soul on the Beach - pickled toe, soulful mood (imagination, souls, dog souls)

We all have a drink with her, I think we paid in chores?

• untangled a curse net - truths to reveal
• milk the eels - Fin manages to work it out

Scry Yassandra - she sits in Loomlurch, under dead tree arches, a portrait in needled faults

We will summon Brine when we have stolen those objects and are ready to enter the Evermaze:

We head up a new hill that has just appeared, on Brine's instruction. We will meet Jingle Jangle there.

We meet a person on stilts with a mask, who is gathering fruit - purple coconuts

• Ivy gave him fly snacks, he gave 2 bouncy purple coconuts

• Person is called Gourd

We find a bakery bundle

• a meat pie, freshly baked
• we take the pie with us

Reach the hill

• talking flowers saying "eat me" here
• Ents here - friendly, hit on Fin
• we head down stairs into the hill

Lady with padlocks turns out to be Jingle Jangle

• has a padlock flail
• floor is covered with keys
• apparently the key to Yassandra's realm has been taken by a troll (Jingle Jangle thinks they have eaten it)
• we search at a goblin camp - Ivy finds a tunic (Windbiter Robes)
  • motifs of wind and flying birds
  • magical
  • pegasus

We fought the troll

• Ivy knocked it out
• we fed it laxatives and it shit the key out

We gave Jingle Jangle the pie that we had mysteriously found earlier, and the key

• Beet explained the deal with Brine
• Jingle Jangle said their deal with Brine had been to remove their fear of being on the wrong side of a locked door - replaced with a desire to collect keys

We gave Jingle Jangle the keys to:

• the chastity cage,
• Ivy's key to Tideholm Keep

Jingle Jangle gave us the keys to:

• Little Oak - apparently this is where the Lost Boys are, that Yassandra wants? Knew they were lost in Threadmere
• Loomlurch

Jingle Jangle put the keys in our mouths, and we were transported to Threadmere

• see sign saying Will of the Fey Wild], deliver this rascal alive and unharmed. Reward: Revive Dead

Summary

Travelled to Grotto of New Beginnings to meet Brine for the first time. She was surprisingly friendly, and gave us all drinks from the Tiki bar. We did some chores for Brine and were able to scry Yassandra in Loomlurch. We made a deal with Brine saying we would bring Portrait of Yass and Brine's Pickling Jar to Brine, in exchange for her letting us into Threadmere, and helping us through the Evermaze. To head to Threadmere we met Jingle Jangle, who sent us on a quest to get the key back from a troll who had eaten it - we gave it laxatives and retrieved the key. Jingle Jangle let us through into Threadmere.
