Recap

Finished the combat with the Mind flayer and the intellect devourers, and managed to defeat them. Ivy had summoned Yassandra so she arrived. We gave Yassandra her Baby back, with some stipulations that she cleaned up her act. We travelled back to her realm, invited Brine and they had a round of therapy with Dr Len, and his 7 step programme. Brine will send us to the Evermaze as promised.

Session 41 - 14.12.25

I passed on a check to make sure Ivy is not hungover

Brine said:

Baba Yaga won't be helping you
"Trust your heart and not your eyes"
"Beware her pet" - The Jabberwocky - can rot your weapons
Baba Yaga's greatest weakness is herself apparently
The cabin can rearrange itself
"If she offers you a chance, remember she stacked it on both sides"
Time moves strangely in that realm

My Prediction: Rosemary's time is going to be different to mine - may be old when we meet

Ivy persuaded Brine to give her some of her teeth (said it was a key sign of friendship, and that all the other party members had done it!) - may need for a portal to leave the realm (need part of each of the sisters)
Ivy stuck the teeth into her mouth straight away

Yassandra gave us a vial of her spit - Fin pretended it was a dwarvish friendship custom, and that she has a trophy room of vials of spit at the castle

Yassandra and Brine transported us to the Evermaze

Now in the Evermaze

Crushed mint smell
Bleeding colours all around us

Ivy failed a skill check - the path behind us closed

All try skill checks to see if this will happen again

Ivy stealths into a hedge - finds purple eyes peering at her all around inside the hedge (may be Baba Yaga's eyes?)
Beet finds a stuffed bunny toy - is moving, and trying to lead her away into the maze
Fin executes a somersault - finds human ears on the hedge
Ellywick poisons the hedge - all the hedges shriek

As the hedges are poisoned, a halfling in a pink dress appears from a hedge

"I knew that wasn't a door!"
has golden ringlets
is called Priscilla Porcelaina
says she "should be in the arms of her lover" - Mincius the Minotaur
when I rolled insight - appears dazed, with rips in her clothing - has been in the maze for a really long time

Ivy pays for the 'love of your life' service from Priscilla Porcelaina (she is apparently a fortune teller)

she was told she wasn't ready for emotional intimacy (duh!)
Ivy is scared and running from something

Fin pays for a reading

"not very clever, but you don't need to bleed to love"
"are going to meet a Pam"
"likes lettuce"

I rolled insight of 32 on her predictions:

Rohan pulled me outside and told me that the Pam bit is the only bit that felt like true divination
she is able to tell the future, but is largely a con artist

Priscilla Porcelaina a vision (??) about Rosemary:

she has brown hair with white streaks in it
is with her sister?? (might be Baba Yaga)
glazed while saying this - seems likely is a vision

Ellywick finds a broken twig:

someone was here before

On the bark parchment:

a little girl with blue lightning coming from her chest
horned figure (?) - might be Mincius
a house with legs - Baba Yaga's cottage

Tie ourselves together with rope in a chain so we don't lose each other

Go on and there is a copper acrid smell, and can see 2 bodies on the floor (mind flayer + intellect devourer)

a huge hole in the chest of the mind flayer
the intellect devourer has been smashed over the head

We FINALLY realise that the tiara on the Minotaur (Mincius) is the Crown of the Trickster

Ivy and Fin fail a Con save and both age 8 years
Beet dispelled magic for 120f

We head towards mooing noise - is Mincius in distress

surrounded by more killed mindflayers
1 is still alive and towering over him

Mincius is wearing a flower crown over braided hair, with crocheted ankle warmers

has purple flashes in his eyes due to the mind flayers effects
tries to attack us as he is being controlled by the mind flayer

COMBAT BEGINS

Ivy punches and stuns the mind flayer + it is killed by the party
Mincius freezes because he is no longer being controlled

Ivy says she will make Mincius some hand knitted gloves (Quests, Deals & Mysteries) - because he seems so lovely and genuine and helpful

Mincius shows us a shortcut to Baba Yaga's cottage, and we see:

impossible sunlight
blue sky
birdsong
little cabin
herbal smoke from the chimney

See Rosemary:

has silver streaks in hair
seems about 3 years older than when I last saw her - time must move differently
simple dress on
too pale - has seen no sun
is playing with an ~8 month old baby boy
she calls for her mum Baba Yaga when she sees us :(

When Baba Yaga sees us she calls Rosemary in and says "He will eat you first" - the baby turns out to be The Jabberwocky in disguise as it grows and looks like it

We manage to kill The Jabberwocky in a really tricky fight, Ivy managing to get the final blow in a reaction where she reflects the damage (in a move shoving its claw up through its skull)

she reaches into its chest and pulls out its heart as a trophy - she is pretty damn angry about them stealing Rosemary

Summary

Used the Horary with Brine and Yassandra's help to travel to the Evermaze. Confusing there in terms of space and time, and were being watched by Baba Yaga throughout. Met Priscilla Porcelaina and Mincius, the latter of which had the Crown of the Trickster. He helped us find Baba Yaga's cottage, and we saw Rosemary, looking older. Were attacked by The Jabberwocky, but narrowly managed to defeat it.
